Maïté Grandjouan

A graduate of the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg (2014), Maïté Grandjouan builds narratives staged in dark, colourful tableaux, drawing from Edward Hopper's new realism, pop art and the German Romanticism of Caspar David Friedrich. In 2016 she published her first graphic novel, Fantasma, with Éditions Magnani, selected for the Prix Artémisia 2017, followed in 2023 by Lena La-très-seule, an almost wordless work that draws close to painting and calls to mind the universe of René Magritte. Her work has led her to create festival posters and collaborate with musicians, including the music video Fou à lier for Feu! Chatterton. She also works as art director on the feature film La ligne, produced by Eddy Cinéma.
